Wooden Indian Burial Ground formed in Portland, Oregon – 2007. As a duo the band employed banjo’s, chord organs, fuzz guitars and other various instruments, making a glorious racket across the Western, Central, and Southern United States. This incited an 11 track album of lo-fi experimental folk tunes self-released in 2008. The band grew in numbers and influence, playing shows under various names with various members until settling down with a stable lineup and signing with Mon Amie in 2010.

Naturally, after so many years of critics praising [and making fun of] them for their “folk” and “country” sounds and hardly ever mentioning the fact that they’ve also recorded virtually dozens of other kinds of music, the band wanted to make a record that was truer to their live set (which has gained some notoriety): raw, loud, heartfelt, and completely uninterested in whatever the hell the rest of the music industry is up to. Merchandise

Doors: 8, Show: 8:30
$10, 18+ - Tickets available at Pure Pop Records or online at Ticketfly.com

Merchandise is the result of years and years of hallucinatory heat and musical quarantine in the skinhead mecca of Tampa, FL. A trio-gone-duo-gone-trio again, the band has been active since 2008, releasing numerous cassettes and CD-R’s, along with two full-length LP’s on Katorga Works. It’s members (RCC, PDB, DMV) all have strong roots in the underground punk community, having released records and toured with much too many acts to be mentioned in this fragment of a bio.

!!! (chk chk chk)
w/ Sinkane
Doors: 8:30, Show: 9
$15, 18+ - Tickets available at Pure Pop Records or online at Ticketfly.com

!!! (generally pronounced "chk chk chk") is a dance-punk band that formed in Sacramento, California, in 1996. The band's name was inspired by the subtitles of the movie The Gods Must Be Crazy, in which the clicking sounds of the Bushmens' Khoisan language were represented as "!". However, as the bandmembers themselves say, !!! is pronounced by repeating thrice any monosyllabic sound. Chk Chk Chk is the most common pronunciation, but they could just as easily be called Pow Pow Pow, Bam Bam Bam, Uh Uh Uh, etc.

Morning Teleportation
w/ TBD
Doors: 8, Show: 8:30
$8, 18+ - Tickets available at Pure Pop Records or online at Ticketfly.com

Morning Teleportation formed in 2005 when Bowling Green, KY natives and lifelong friends Travis Goodwin (keyboards) and Tres Coker (drums) met up with Chicago transplant Tiger Merritt (vocals/guitar), who had just moved to their hometown for college. From the beginning the band has built up a roller coaster of tumultuous rock 'n roll, featuring analog synths, heartfelt vocals, and sudden changes woven through psychedelia, electronica, and deep-space pickin' n' grinnin'. They've spent most of the past year on the road playing for enthusiastic crowds at Bonnaroo and Sasquatch and supporting the likes of The Flaming Lips, Cage The Elephant, and Modest Mouse.

Night Beds
w/ Jenny O, Quiet Lion
Doors: 8, Show: 8:30
$8, 18+ - Tickets available at Pure Pop Records or online at Ticketfly.com

It's difficult to say where Night Beds begins, but it could be here: August 2006, a young Winston Yellen is invited to a longtime friend's apartment. They talk, they record a little aimlessly, and something exciting emerges. Maybe it's a little later, when one is studying engineering in Nashville, and the other remains behind, an unhappy captive of secondary education. It could be any number of moments, really, along a series of migrations, but probably here: the summer of 2008, back in Colorado Springs, when they write the first Night Beds song, "You Were Afraid."

Bleeding Rainbow

Nevermind the constant threat of a cease and desist letter, when Carrie Brownstein tells you that your band name is weak, you change it. But it isn't as simple as a name change for Philadelphia's minimal noise pop duo Reading Rainbow, significant line up additions facilitated the adoption of a new moniker. So...drum roll please...as we reintroduce Philadelphia's Bleeding Rainbow, now a full-blown, Brownstein-approved, rock quartet. The name better represents the band's evolving sound and is all around more badass and trippy as sh*t. The founding members, Sarah Everton, who moved from drums to bass to give her vocals a better chance to shine, and vocalist/guitarist Rob Garcia are now joined by Al Creedon on lead guitar and drummer Greg Frantz.

Woods
Parquet Courts
w/ TBD
Doors: 8:30, Show: 9
$10, 18+ - Tickets available at Pure Pop Records or online at Ticketfly.com

The foundations of Brooklyn’s Woods lie in the small rear-house apartment bedroom of Jeremy Earl, who took to recording his eerily somber acoustic songs in 2005 as little more than a humble personal outlet. After two early albums and several singles which saw Earl still honing his sound, Woods released “Songs of Shame” in 2009 to widespread critical acclaim and offered the band a chance to develop their live sound on the back of a massive touring schedule. During this period, the live line-up solidified with the inclusion of multi-instrumentalist Jarvis Taveniere, bassist Kevin Morby and cassette-collage maestro G. Lucas Crane. READ MORE

Little was said about Parquet Courts’ debut effort, American Specialties. Released exclusively on cassette tape, the quasi-album was an odd collection of 4 track recordings that left those who were paying attention wanting more. A year of woodshedding live sets passed before the Courts committed another song to tape. The band’s first proper LP, Light Up Gold, is a dynamic and diverse foray into the back alleys of the American DIY underground. Bright guitars swirl serpentine over looping, groovy post-punk bass lines and drums that border on robotic precision. READ MORE
